Kim Shattuck

Boston, MA

TBC Coaching Level 1.0

Kim is a 37 year-old mother of two boys. After being a mother for fourteen years, a wife and having a fulltime job, she decided it was time she did something for herself.

Kim had a breakthrough year in 2008 just two years into competition, winning the overall female division in several races, and top 3 age group finishes in almost every race. Kim competed in the 2008 USAT Age Group Championships, where a drafting penalty (deserved) knocked her out of qualifying for the World Championships. Kim is one of those athletes you wish would have started triathlon at age 20, because her natural talent and discipline would have been enough to turn pro!

Her long term goal is to still be racing into her eighties.

Michael Warden

Orem, UT

Free! He's my brother!

Michael's first swim, bike, and run workout took place in July of 2008. With no background in any of the 3 disciplines, he took 7th place overall out of 200 at his first triathlon in September with only 2 months of coaching. The 26-year-old followed up a month later with a 2nd place overall finish out of 140 participants.

While his coach would love to take credit for this phenom, it is all genetics and determination on Michael's part.

Michael will be entering medical school on scholarship in Iowa next fall, but plans on racing well in 2009 before school starts. Despite his impressive academic and athletic accomplishments, he says his greatest satisfaction is being younger brother to David.
